Morocco,
country of traditions and culture. It was always a kingdom
and under the reign of Juba II passed under the dependence
of Rome. Become then Maurétanie Tingitane in 42 AD,
monuments as Volubilis and lexus testify the apogee that
knew the kingdom. Passed then under the dominance of Vandals
and the Byzantine. And since the advent of Islam to the VIII°
century several dynasties followed each other: the Idrissids,
Almoravids, the Almohads during their reign Morocco was a
big empire that spread from the Niger stream in the south,
until Poitiers (south of France) they were interested in
architecture: the Koutoubia mosque and its twin the Giralda
in Sevilla are proof of that. They had built the pool of the
Menara that acted as reservoir of drinking water for
Marrakech, the Merinids, the Saadiens...and the Alaouits, of
which the contemporary of Louis XIV, Moulay Ismail had
founded Meknes the 4th imperial city, and under his 57
year long reign a treaty of trade has been signed with
France in 1682, he is the king who asked for the hand of
Louis XIV's daughter |
